What to Expect
The Talented and Lovely Sophia Barrett is coming to Norwayyyy!!!
She will be sharing her knowledge of creating beautiful creative sets, styling choices, posing clients and fun and creative lighting techniques she uses in this 2 days intensive workshop.
You will get to set build and learn staging props to make them work well on your photoshoots! While building and shooting along with Sophia and getting
valuable instruction each and every step of the way.
This is 2 days of creativity and awesomeness you DO NOT want to miss out on :)

About Sophia
Sophia Barrett Studios is a black-owned, luxury portrait studio located in the heart of Atlanta, GA, co-founded by Sophia and her husband and business partner, Derrick Barrett. Sophia’s love for the arts is evident in her degree in Interior Design from Suffolk University New England School of Design. Originally from a small northern town in Massachusetts with traditional Caribbean parents, her path to photography was unconventional. Derrick, from Charlotte, NC, holds dual degrees in Industrial Engineering and General Science from Georgia Tech and Morehouse, making his journey into photography equally unexpected. Together, their combined skills and backgrounds have shaped Sophia Barrett Studios into the thriving, fine art-focused portrait studio it is today.
Their business began in 2011, sparked by Sophia’s desire to work for herself and find a creative outlet. The couple started photographing weddings and engagement sessions, quickly developing a shared passion for creating meaningful art. In 2015, Sophia was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, prompting the couple to transition their business from weddings to portraiture so they could spend more time at home. During this period, they also decided to foster care to adopt, which further influenced their decision to focus on portraiture. By 2015-2016, they had fully transitioned to portrait photography, with an emphasis on empowering women through their art.
Sophia and Derrick have expanded their business to include luxury photography events, led multiple workshops, and created empowering spaces for photographers to refine their craft. Their studio has become known for its fine art approach and dedication to empowering women, with a special focus on women of color, through visual storytelling. They host workshops and luxury-themed photo sessions that push creative boundaries and foster deeper connections with their clients, continuing their mission to empower women through their work.

FAQ
What do I need to bring?
If you are attending both workshop days, you can bring yourself and your camera both days. Please note that the majority of shooting with the models will happen on the second day-
We will be set building and creating the first day but you can certainly bring your cameras to get BTS images and document the day.
What Language will this course be in?
English

Payment can be made in two payments or a full payment.
A deposit is required to book your spot. The rest of the payment is due by March 1st 2024.
*Please Note. Any cancellations that happen 8 weeks before the workshop are refundable. Afterwards, no refunds will be made!!
